We have a beautiful dusting of snow outside! While some may find it frustrating, it does go well with our Holiday decorations and music in the building!
We are so thankful this month to have so many community members bring us joy and cheer, and yesterday the Community Strings Orchestra came to perform for the Residents. The music was beautiful and everyone loved it, staff and Residents alike.
Nurses Notes
While this snow may be beautiful, it’s also a big of risk when it comes to falls outside. There are precautions you can take to minimize your risk of fall during these snowy and icy months. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, having good winter boots with a large tread is a good start. But they also offer another fun way to remember to reduce your fall risk: walk like a penguin!
To walk like a penguin, do the following:
- Bend slightly and walk flat footed
- Keep your center of gravity over your feet as much as possible
- Point your feet out slightly – well, like a penguin
- Shuffle your feet and take short steps
- Watch where you are stepping
- Concentrate on keeping your balance
- Keep your arms at your sides and hands out of your pockets
- Go slow
Stay safe out there!
Kitchen Corner
We are getting ready for the Resident Christmas Party, which will be held Wednesday December 18th. We will be having a ham dinner with all the fixings, so please let us know no later than Monday, December 16th if you are able to join us. This is considered a holiday meal, so the cost will be $8.00. We hope to see you there!
