Father’s Day is the one official day out of the year dedicated to celebrating and thanking father figures for all that they’ve done. Being a father can be a difficult task at times, yet rewarding at others. Father figures have a huge impact on their children as they grow older as well as in the future. Every hug, memory, late night talks, and support are noticed and remembered by their children. While presents are always a nice gesture, chances are he wants to enjoy quality time together. With Father’s Day coming up, here are some ideas of how you can celebrate them…
Enjoy his favorite hobby with him
Everyone has a hobby or something that they enjoy doing. This might be golfing, gardening, wood working, or working on projects around the house. Whatever their hobby might be, they would love to have you join in and enjoy their hobbies with them. The hobbies that he has may or may not be your favorite thing to do, but showing interest in his hobbies and providing additional company will make his day – and you might even learn a thing or two!
Cook or dine out for a meal
Preparing a meal or going out to a restaurant for a meal allows you to spend quality time with one another. This allows you to sit down with one another and have multiple conversations. Surprise them by making their favorite meal and having a happy hour beforehand. You’d be surprised at how much you can learn from them and their stories. Most of the time, life seems too busy to just sit down and relax. But in reality, you can carve out time in your schedule to spend quality time together and make new memories.
Go to a sporting event
If he loves sports, what better idea than going to a sports game! This is such an exciting event to bring your loved one to. What makes it even better is that you can make it into a full day. Most of the time, your fathers have attended your personal events so now this is an opportunity to go enjoy a sporting event with them. A wonderful part of living in the Midwest during the Summer is that the weather gives you an opportunity to go to an outdoors sporting event with him or even go to a patio beforehand and enjoy the sunshine.
“A dad is someone who wants to catch you when you fall. Instead he picks you up, brushes you off and lets you try again.” —Unknown
If you aren’t able to see your father on Father’s Day, a simple phone call or card thanking them for the impact they have and continue to have in your life would be the perfect option. At the end of the day, all they want is to be recognized and thanked for everything they have done for you. Parenting is a tough job and doesn’t come with an instruction manual, so every reminder that they are doing a great job is encouraging. As you can tell, fathers play such an important role in all of our lives. Here at Woodstone, we want to thank the Father figures out there for the impact they have had shaping our lives. We hope you have a wonderful day and feel extra celebrated on Father’s Day, but every other day for all that you do.
Best,
