Yesterday was a fun day for all the Residents here at Woodstone in New Ulm, especially for our resident Stephen W.
Recently in a resident meeting, we found out that one of Stephen’s dreams was to ride in a Model T Ford again. Stephen had many cars as he grew up, 29 to be exact. He enjoyed them all, but he remembers riding his parent’s Model A as a teenager.
In hoping to make this wish come true, I contacted Paul Mayday, owner of Mayday motors here in town and filled him in on Stephens dream. Without question, he was more than willing to help out. He sent out an email to all his auto group friends asking them for a contact name of an owner of a Model A Ford. He found out that Tom and Karen Ricter of New Ulm owned one. He asked the Ricters if they would be interested in making a dream come true for a resident at Woodstone. They were more than happy to help make this dream come true.
Monday morning at 9:30am, the Ricter’s pulled up in their Model A Ford. Tom was wearing a classy black hat and his wife Karen was along for the ride. We went to get Stephen for the surprise. When we brought him out to the Model A, he was very surprised, he had no idea that there would be a Model A waiting for him. We helped him into the Ford and off they went.
First stop was to Ridgeway on 23rd to bring red roses to his lady friend. The next stop was to Mayday Motors to visit with Paul, the man who helped set this up. Tom and Stephen talked cars the whole time. Upon returning, Tom showed Stephen the engine. Tom then joined Stephen for a refreshing glass of lemonade. Stephen expressed that this ride had brought back so many memories for him.
Thanks Tom and Karen for helping to make a dream come true here at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm!
