Ever have fun when you go to work? We do every day. Of course days like today, make it all the more special.
Today during our monthly Out for Lunch outing to Peter’s on Lake Ripley, A Dream was about to come true. Howard, a resident at Woodstone of Hutchinson, was not only going to make this wish come true for himself, but also for his beautiful bride Millie.
This couple may not live under the same roof, but the love between these two has never been stronger.
This afternoon, Howard surprised Millie and made this outing turn into a date for the two of them, which has not happened in a long time.
He showed up with red roses and a special rose locket for Millie, which she was not expecting. It was great to let them have time to themselves over lunch and talk just as they would as if they were at home and it was another day.
As our group was sitting and enjoying the meal, Howard’s wife Millie leans over and tells the group, “Do you know what makes this day even better?” Millie begins to tell Howard and the whole group that last night their 10th great-grandchild was born and it was a BOY!
“Finally after 9 great-granddaughters, Howard, you got a great-grandson,” Millie says.
Everyone was so happy for the couple and the news of the new arrival to their family. It was truly a blessed day that Millie had the opportunity to tell her husband of 65 years that they added another addition to their family, in person.
Howard and Millie had a great lunch together, which will be cherished for many more years and we were all glad that we could be part of such a great day.
When we returned back to Woodstone, Erika got a call from Millie, Howard’s wife letting her know how grateful she was for the surprise, but she had one question. “Those roses weren’t from my daughter Annette, where they?” Through the conversation, Millie told Erika that December 4th holds a special meaning to their family. Howard’s mother’s birthday was December 4th and that she was a wonderful women and her daughter Annette’s hero.
Every year on December 4th, she would bring red roses to Howard and Millie and spend the day with them in remembrance of Grandma Turck. So with Howard showing up today with the red roses, Millie thought that her daughter sent them with Howard because of the date.
Things in life really work in mysterious ways.
All in all, it was such a great day to see this couple share their love for each other, share news of a new addition, and find out the great memories that happen each year on December 4th.
We were so proud that we could help make this Dream Come True for the two of them!
