To kick off the New Year at Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson we had our monthly in-service on January 5, 2016. It was a great start to all get together learn, communicate about our upcoming year.
We first had Linda Tally RN, Community Hospice Liaison, with Allina Health come educate our team on Dementia and End of Life: Giving Quality Care. For some of us it was newer information, for some it was a good re-fresher.
We all walked away at least learning one new thing. At the end Linda answered questions we had regarding end of life, and she gave us some of her experiences and how she has dealt with them throughout her years in the field.
Next Janna, Woodstone’s RN, and Kelsey, the Executive Director, gave reminders and updates out to the team.
Lastly, all staff worked on 3 words we want to focus on here at Woodstone of Hutchinson for 2016.
-Respect: We want to respect each other, ourselves, co-workers, residents, families, and Woodstone. –It is the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated.—
-Accountability: take pride in our work and complete our tasks to our fullest ability.
-Sparkle: to be different, set ourselves apart from other Senior Livings.
What we want here at Woodstone is to not be the norm we want to be different and we feel we can break out of the stereotype what is expected from Senior Living Communities. At the end of our shift or at the end of the day we will ask ourselves did we treat others how we would want to be treated such as the resdients co-woerks ect and did we complete our tasks to our fullest ability. If we can answer yes, that means we sparkled. Some days we may sparkle more then others but this year by respecting and taking accountability for our actions we will have no problem to come together and SPARKLE as a team TOGETHER.
