Its that time of year again. Staff of Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson got together to celebrate the end of the year. The staff first started with a team building exercise. Each team was given 3-5 minutes to peel the white filling (aka “the stuff”) off of each Oreo and combine it together to create one Ultimate Oreo. Whoever has the tallest Ultimate Oreo at the end of the time limit wins! Of course that sounds too easy, so there was a catch, the catch was, team members are only allowed to use one hand. This requires teams to work together and makes the scraping off of the filling much more difficult and time consuming.
By the looks of the end result some teams did better than other teams, but everyone working together and participating in this exercise was the true task.
Next we had a great meal from Landy’s Lodge in Hutchinson, it was homemade lasagna that Chef Vinny created, along with a breadstick and salad. Everyone agreed that meal was extraordinary and we all recommend it. Then, we moved onto the exchange of gifts. Everyone got into a circle and we passed the gifts 2 to the right and then Kelsey the director (ahead of this game) said to pass the gifts 2 to the left. The circle looked at Kelsey and stated, “this doesn’t make sense,” “hey, we have our same gifts.” It was a good laugh Kelsey said, “I know, I am seeing if you are paying attention.” So the exchange of gifts continued. After the gifts were opened, we got to have desert. The cake tasted as good as it looked.
It was a great night to get together with those that we work with and appreciate the laughs and excitement of getting to know each other outside of the work setting.
